Many small vessels along the Mississippi and Alabama coasts were left damaged and/or stranded by the storm surges from Hurricane Katrina. To make it easier for the U.S. Coast Guard to make contact with vessel owners, the NOAA Scientific Support Coordinator developed decals, such as the one in this photo, which have been placed on damaged and stranded vessels.
