SSC Evening Report Sunday and Monday, 20 and 21 February, 1994

SITUATION UPDATE/ACTIVITIES TODAY (Sunday/Monday, 20/21 FEB 94):
Due to this being a three day weekend in Puerto Rico, operations were limited.
No commonwealth personnel worked Saturday through Monday. A sand washing
machine will arrive on-scene Tuesday (22 FEB) and be set up at either the Hilton
Lagoon or Escambron Beach. If sand is cleaned to a high enough level (visually
and <100 ppm TPH) it will be immediately returned to the environment. Land
farming is planned for dredged sand that has been collected in conjunction with
submerged oil recovery operations. Overflights to the scuttle site continue to
show no change in floating oil present offshore. NOAA HAZMAT distributed the
staff briefing report over the weekend via facsimile machine and Fed Ex. A
report is now being compiled which will give the history of each impacted Zone
and Segment. This report will be presented to the FOSC and distributed on
Wednesday. An awards ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. NOAA HAZMAT
will be spend Thursday packing equipment and supplies, and depart in total on
Friday.
