THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS BASED ON THE MOST CURRENT DATA PROVIDED TO NOAA.
Thursday, April 4 SSC Report from Saudi Arabia
Sheen, tarballs in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar: There is no change in the
general presence of sheen and tar balls in the larger Gulf area.
Sources in Kuwait: The SLAR image indicated that the oil band band continued to
move onshore influenced by very strong southeast winds. This band is now less
than 5 km wide and ribbons of black and brown oil are expected to move onto the
Kuwait shoreline, especially at high tide. No reports of Kuwait shoreline
oiling have been received.
Gary Ott continues to work on the problem of pooled inland surface oil.
