THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS BASED ON THE MOST CURRENT DATA PROVIDED TO NOAA. - SITUATION:
The M/V ATLANTIS is along side the M/V MEGA BORG and lightering operations are due to be
completed on Tuesday. SSC and support team are expected to be released by OSC tomorrow.
MASS: (Payton / Simecek-Beatty) The imagery from the morning SLAR overflight
identified one small patch 40 to 45 miles SSE of Sabine Pass. No other signals were seen
in the area covered (between Sabine and Calcasieu). Briefed the OSC representative on the
results of mornings SLAR imagery and overflight. SSC: (Christopherson) SSC and Dr.
Sylvia Earle went on a morning overflight to the M/V MEGA BORG. No pollution was observed
in the vicinity of the ship. One ten-mile long area of light sheen, approximately 10-30
yards wide, with scattered patches of mousse was observed running north-south 40 miles
southeast of Galveston. SSC and Payton briefed the OSC representative on this morning's
SLAR imagery and overflight. Briefed Sylvia Earle on the role of HAZMAT during the
MEGA BORG spill response. NOAA Personnel On-Scene: Christopherson, Payton, Simecek-
