Oil Spill Update: Skimming Operations Complete
Shoreline cleanup remains active
All on-water skimming operations in response to the San Francisco Bay oil spill
were completed Monday.
Officials are encouraged that an aerial assessment yesterday showed no new
visible oil on the water. Shoreline cleanup activities will continue until
Unified Command members agree that local, state and federal cleanup standards
have been met.
Three additional dead birds were recovered yesterday. Wildlife recovery efforts
are still active.
Middle Harbor Shoreline Park, Encinal Beach, and Robert Crown Memorial State
Beach remain closed until further notice.
The suspension of shoreline fishing activities and shellfish harvesting remains
in effect from the San Francisco Bay Bridge to the San Mateo Bridge along
Alameda County shoreline.
Local agencies and companies that voluntarily deployed boom during the response
may remove it from the following areas:
* West shore of San Francisco Bay
* East shore of the bay north of the Bay Bridge
* East shore of the bay from the San Leandro Marina south
Resources deployed today include:
* 36,000 feet of boom
* 141 field workers
* 5 utility boats
